Seriously Underrated in Hip-Hop, his delivery is just awe-inspiring - check some of his albums "The Breakfast Club" and "Elmatic" Mixtape are some real classics.

Canadian artist whose lyricism just flows effortlessly and I like the take on a Genesis classic.

Been a fan for a long time. Versatility at its best.

What's good Hip-Hop heads! Been checking out these guy's music, It's different and brings back a style that Hip-Hop has forgotton.

 Compelling and interesting lyrics laid on top of a chilled, almost jazz-sounding track, with slight hints to the late J.Dilla's sounds.

What's good Hip-Hop Heads! One of the HipHopInformant's NY Elite, Mr. Donny Goines has just posted a new track and is working on his new album titled; The Guggenrhyme (in reference to the Guggeneheim Gallery in New York)

I've always been impressed by his lyrical ability & have always been inspired by the music he releases.

Talking Hip-Hop, Pittsburgh & Ferguson with Charlie Slum!

HipHopInformant: How long have you been involved with Hip-Hop & how did you get started?

Charlie Slum: I’ve been rapping since the age of about 7 years old. Little bullshit here & there. Then around 14-16 I started recording, doing shows etc. We (Greenhouse Hooligans) got serious as a collective though I’d say, in the past 4 years with varying degrees and patterns of seriousness and success. I’ve been doing music with Vaguz Nerve since we were like 12/13 and B1S since I was 17. 

HipHopInformant: I notice you have influences from Tupac to John Coltrane. Can you give me your top 5 Hip-Hop artists and why? 

Charlie Slum: I just love any music my ears perceive to be good. As far as a list, I mean this will be strictly in terms of personal favourites and not really in order of best to worst but.. Nas - To me, Nas is the textbook definition of the perfect rapper and when I was just learning, honing my skills, and finding my sound it seems like he was breaking down how to rap in the process of rhyming..the phrasing is always superb, stories so vivid and intricate. He’s Scorsese. 

Friday Hip-Hop: 50 Cent ft. Mr Probz - Twisted

 

What's good Hip-Hop heads, it's Friday! Hope you've all had a good week. 

So, I'm not a huge 50 Cent fan but, I have to say this track was lyrically on-point. The flow was good, production excellent and all-in-all it's a pretty chilled track so listen, enjoy and have a good [extended] weekend!

What's good Hip-Hop heads? I'm working on a couple of Interviews that I'll hopefully get up soon. So Common, his new album dropped on July 22nd and when I first heard it, I was impressed, his lyricism seems to evolve and keeps getting better and better, so listen to this track from the new album "Nobody's Smiling" and enjoy, buy and support an artist that continuously puts out good music!
